  Who are Lions?

Lions are ordinary people just like you. Some are businessmen, teachers, fathers or empty nester retirees. One thing all Lions have in common is their desire to improve their communities, to help the needy and less fortunate. Virtually all communities have a local Lions Club. Lions volunteer their time, services and expertise; working to improve the quality of life in the local and global community. I am sure you have noticed the Lions Logo entering communities wherever your travels have taken you.

Many communities have parks, sports facilities, community centres and much much more, built and or maintained by local Lions Club members just like you. Without Lions, many communities would not have much needed facilities and services. The unselfish caring members of the Lions Club offer a variety of goods and services to raise the funds required to provide the support to those fallen on hard times, and disaster relief in areas hit by catastrophe.

If you have spare time on your hands, the Lions can use you.
If you want to improve your community, the Lions can use you.
If you are new to your community, the Lions will welcome you.

Join the Lions, have fun and improve the quality of life in your community. Becoming a Lion is by invitation only. Contact a Lion and ask to be invited to a Lions meeting. The Lions are volunteers and the Lions motto is:

We Serve

Lions Clubs International, in its relatively short history of just over 90 years, has grown into the world’s largest service club organization. While other organizations have diminished in both scope and influence, Lions Clubs International has continued to be the leader in global humanitarian service.     Zone Chair Jim Fekete 2009

Excerpt from International President Eberhard Wirfs October 2009 Report:

"We are having an excellent start to our year, with 4,080 membership growth for the first three months, compared to a minus 1,271 for the prior year. But what's even more exiting is that we are bringing Lionism to new areas and reaching out to new target markets."

A great story for Lionism. Move to grow, Lion Eberhard's theme for the year is working well so far. Each club is ecouraged to adopt a growth theme for the year.
